The VCT EMEA Stage 2 Challengers playoffs are finally set to begin after five weeks of exhilarating group stage matches. Six teams have advanced to the final phase of the tournament, where they will battle for one of the three spots at Masters Copenhagen.
European squad Fnatic took the top seed in Group A with a perfect 5-0 record in the playoffs. Despite their roster changes before the start of the VCT EMEA Stage 2 Challengers group stage, Fnatic breezed through the competition with wins over teams like Acend, FunPlus Phoenix, and G2 Esports.
Valorant Champions 2021 winners Acend are once again a team to look out for, with their revamped squad finishing the group stage with a 4-1 record. New in-game leader Vakaris ” vakk” Bebravičius has Acend firing on all cylinders, and the team has found success with different team compositions, including putting Mehmet Yağız “cNed” İpek on Reyna instead of Jett on Icebox.
Guild Esports and Team Liquid were dominant in Group B, securing a 4-1 record to top the group. Guild’s Nikita “trexx” Cherednichenko has stepped up his performance in the group stage, averaging the fifth-highest Average Combat Score (ACS) at 240.9.
Meanwhile, Adil “ScreaM” Benrlitom’s switch to Raze appears to have been the change Liquid needed to edge out the competition.
Rounding out the teams that qualified for the EMEA playoffs are FunPlus Phoenix and M3 Champions, who completed the group stage with 3-2 and 2-3 records respectively.
