Bren Esports’ will not be advancing to the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League Philippines Season 9 (MPL PH Season 9) playoffs after finishing last in the regular season.

Although they won their last regular season match, defeating powerhouse TNC in their final series, 2-0, Francis “Coach Duckey” Glindro admits they still have a lot of work to do before MPL PH Season 10, the season which will determine who will represent the country at the M4 World Championship.

In a message posted on his Facebook page, the veteran coach apologized to everyone who they might have disappointed this season, and promised to improve their training this off-season.

“I know we’ve been in a slump for a while now. The struggle has made us realize a number of new things and has been a humbling experience for each of us,” he said.

After winning the M2 World Championship title, Bren Esports’ performance declined in the seasons after. They failed to qualify for the playoffs twice in a row at MPL PH Season 8 and MPL PH Season 9.

Although the team did not achieve what they had hoped for, the coach did not deny the elegance shown by his rookies this season.

“While I know most of you are disappointed, I refuse to believe that our rookies didn’t prove anything for themselves for the past few months.” Duckey commented.

After CJ “Ribo” Ribo Jr. took a break from the professional scene and Karl “KarlTzy” Nepomuceno left for ECHO, the organization recruited amateur players Marco “Super Marco” Stephen, Vincent “Joy Boy” De Guzman and Kenneth “Saxa” Fedelin to fill in the roster.

“They tried and did their best, and right now that is enough proof for me that they have what it takes to play in this league,” Coach Duckey concluded.
