Jay “sinatraa” Won’s return to competitive Valorant may take slightly longer than expected.
Riot Games has issued a new statement after the former Sentinels player shared an email from a Riot employee that said he was clear to play in the VCT without undergoing the “professional conduct training” mandated in an earlier competitive ruling.
Contrary to the email, John Needham, President, Esports at Riot Games announced that the former Overwatch star is still required to go through conduct training before competing again.
Riot handed the 22-year-old a six-month suspension last May for failing to fully cooperate with its investigation into the sexual assault allegations against him. The ban lifted in September, and the player had just announced that he was ready to return to pro play by taking part in tryouts.

Needham also said that Riot would be initiating an internal investigation with the individuals who were involved in clearing sinatraa and review its policies and procedures to ensure that competitive rulings are “followed through correctly in the future”.
The Sentinels content creator had originally been told that he was “fully eligible to sign up and play in VCT”. In addition, the conduct training was no longer needed, because the training was supposed to focus on “cooperating with investigations”, and they felt that sinatraa would “already know most of the information covered in the training”.
Sentinels were reportedly considering sinatraa as a replacement for Jared “zombs” Gitlin, although that move is likely to be delayed now.
The training will focus on three key aspects: conducting oneself as a professional, complying with rules and regulations, and complying with investigations.
It’s now unclear when the two-time Overwatch MVP will be returning to pro Valorant or if the new development will put his tryouts on hold.
