Superstar Twitch streamer, Imane “Pokimane” Anys, has donated US$50,000 to the University of California, Irvine (UCI) to launch the Pokimane scholarship, a student scholarship dedicated to its esports program UCI Esports.
The popular League of Legends and Fortnite streamer announced that she will be sponsoring four students under her program as selected by the university itself.
US$25,000 will be handed to UCI Esports this 2020, followed by another US$25,000 for the year 2021. This amount will be used to fund the students’ tuition and educational fees.
Starting 2022, a student under the UCI Esports Pokimane scholarship will receive US$2,500 every year. According to Pokimane, the grant will be continuously awarded every year.

Pokimane claims she is glad to “give back to the gaming world” after receiving tons of support in her career as a content creator.
“I love being able to share my experience of how I got to where I am today in hopes that it will help others who are on their way. I’m also especially happy to be supporting UCI’s esports program because their students are focusing on gaming in addition to pursuing their college degrees – which, I can say from experience, isn’t easy!” said Pokimane in a statement.
