Rebellion Zion have figured out the adjustments they need to make when they go up against the toughest Mobile Legends: Bang Bang teams in Indonesia.

After going 0-4 in the first two weeks, Rebellion Zion found their groove when they defeated powerhouse team Aura Fire and defending champion RRQ Hoshi in the third week of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League Indonesia Season 10 (MPL ID Season 10).

This is the first time they have scored a win against these teams since they entered the league two seasons ago.

According to head coach Rizky “Cikoo” Andika Saputra, one player, in particular, had a very positive impact on the team this week.

Before the series started against Aura Fire, longtime player and team captain Thomas “VALL” Galileo was replaced with Bernard “Widjanarko” Widjanarko, who was promoted to the main roster this season after competing for two seasons in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Development League.

The switch to the roster was small, yet its impact was greatly felt in the third week. They swept Aura Fire to secure their first win this season and went on to sweep RRQ Hoshi, 2-0, the day after.

While he isn’t the flashiest player around, his mastery over tank support heroes such as Mathilda and Rafaela was vital to Rebellion Zion’s aggressive playstyle. His has a strong ability to protect carries in-game. Haizz, the team’s gold laner, for example, has had only four deaths in five games so far.

According to Cikoo, Widjanarko is important to the team’s success.

“Widjanarko is fun to play with,” the head coach said. “He likes to joke around to his teammates just to ease the tensions and nervousness.”

Rebellion Zion will face its toughest challenge as they go head-to-head with EVOS Legends on September 4, Sunday, at 3 p.m. GMT+8. The white tigers are on a roll as well after taking down ONIC Esports and RRQ Hoshi in the third week to take the top spot in the standings.

Cikoo only had one message to his team before facing the M1 World Champions.

“As long as we haven’t won the championship, don’t be satisfied just yet,” he said. “Indeed, we have won twice now, but is this enough to get us to the playoffs? Or even good enough to win the championship?”
