Let’s start 2022 with a bang!
The Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League Philippines Season 9 (MPL PH Season 9) will finally start on February 18.
The much-awaited tournament will feature eight of the best teams in the Philippines duking it out in the Land of Dawn. From new faces in the roster of M3 World Championship winner Blacklist International to ECHO’s potential super team, there’s a lot to be excited about this season.
Here is everything you need to know about the upcoming MPL PH Season 9, including a brief summary of the tournament format and when the tournament will begin.
What is the MPL PH Season 9?
MPL PH Season 9 is 2022’s first official Mobile Legends: Bang Bang tournament in the Philippines, featuring some of the best teams in the region battling it out for three months on the big stage.
The regular season will be played in a double round robin best-of-three format, after which the top six teams will proceed to the playoffs.
This is the second season since the league became franchise-based.
MPL PH Season 9 format
MPL PH Season 9 will feature a similar format to the previous season, besides a few tweaks in the playoffs bracket.
This season, the top six teams in the regular season will proceed to the playoffs. To spice things up, the first and third-seeded teams will choose the teams that will complete in the first two playoffs matches, while the first- and second-seeded teams will be automatically seeded into the second round of the playoffs.
Moonton also shared a few changes in the coaching system. Every team this season can have up to three assistant coaches, who can then participate in the pick and ban stage with the head coach.
