Zeri was only enabled in major regions last weekend, but the Spark of Zaun is already lighting up the LCS stage.
Evil Geniuses’ bot laner Kyle “Danny” Sakamaki was the first LCS player to pick her competitively, and promptly showed off her ridiculous mobility in a team fight, getting his first career pentakill on stage.
Turns out, he’s only played seven games on her in total, including the LCS game, and seems to have a knack for getting multiple kills on the new champion.

Evil Geniuses’ Danny scores a pentakill on Zeri in her first showing in the LCS
EG locked in Zeri as their first pick, building her around strong engage champions with plenty of crowd control, like Jarvan IV and Leona.
Though the game began slowly, things started to ramp up after 20 minutes as team fights around objectives began. One such fight at the 32nd minute around the Elder Dragon saw EG literally jump the gun on TSM guerrilla style, flanking behind from the jungle.
Danny vaulted over the blue buff wall and began firing at Mingyi “Spica” Lu’s Poppy, Wei “Shenyi” Zi-Jie’s Rell, and Heo “Huni” Seung-hoon’s Jayce, while his teammates simultaneously engaged on Edward “Tactical” Ra’s Senna and Zhu “Keaiduo” Xiong’s Viktor, who were separated from the others.
However, Zaun’s new addition is so mobile that after executing both Shenyi and Huni, Danny could jump from the blue buff to the jungle entrance in an instant, cleaning up two kills on Tactical and Keaiduo.
TSM barely knew what had hit them, because the fight was over in a flash. The rest of Evil Geniuses saved the final kill for the 18-year-old to rack up a pentakill. After that, they went straight for TSM’s Nexus.
He’s only played six Zeri games before this stage game
It turns out that Danny had played just seven games on the new champion in total, according to Peter Dun, Head of Coaching Staff at EG, who revealed this on League of Legends talkshow Summoning Insight.
The games included five solo queue games, one scrim, and the stage game against TSM.
But remarkably, he got a pentakill “in five of them”, Dun said, which he thought might mean the champion is rather broken at the moment. However, Dun also mentioned that the bot laner has been playing League of Legends since he was eight years old, and picks up new champions really quickly.
So is the Spark of Zaun broken, or is the EG bot laner just insane at new champions? Perhaps it’s a little bit of both.
