CIS squad Team Spirit rose to fame after winning the Dota 2 TI10 tournament from the lower bracket.
Running at the same time as Worlds for the first time in 2021, fans were quick to compare the two MOBA titles.
The age-old debate of whether Dota 2 or League of Legends is better continues to rage. Can Dota 2 players really beat League players at their own game?
Team Spirit decided to put this to the test, and had five of their members play a game of League of Legends for the first time. The results were rather surprising.
Dota 2 TI10 winners Team Spirit play League of Legends for the first time
From the start of the game, Team Spirit players definitely looked like they’ve never touched League of Legends in their lives.
They played as the following champions:
- Yaroslav “Miposhka” Naidenov (Zac)
- Alexander “TORONTOTOKYO” Khertek (Jinx)
- Magomed “Collapse” Khalilov (Pantheon)
- Illya “Yatoro” Mulyarchuk (Vel’Koz)
- Airat “Silent” Gaziev (Heimerdinger)
Miposhka, who was the jungler, did not buy the starting jungle item (either Emberknife or Hailblade), which increases damage done towards monsters and grants more experience.
As a result, he struggled to kill the Krugs — a common mistake for many Dota players, who are unused to requiring an item specifically for jungling.
Meanwhile, TORONTOTOKYO on Jinx was the victim of a level one cheese in the bot lane, and he died right as the minion wave arrived in lane. Immediately, the rest of the team (especially his support) began to jokingly flame him.

Collapse on Pantheon in the top lane looked much more comfortable than his teammates, and managed to kill his lane opponent a few times. Perhaps it’s because Pantheon is rather similar to Mars, a Dota 2 hero that also throws long range spears.
Although Yatoro’s lane opponent, Yasuo, was initially AFK, he eventually came back and the deaths began to pile up for his Vel’Koz. The game didn’t get much better for Team Spirit. In true Yasuo fashion, he won a 1v2 against Yatoro and Miposhka in the late game.
It didn’t help that TORONTOTOKYO constantly missed his Super Mega Death Rocket as well.
In the end, the team lost with a scoreline of 32-54, with Collapse having the highest KDA of 13/9/6. Silent on Heimerdinger was also rather… silent.
Asked about their thoughts about the game, Miposhka quipped that he could not sit after the game because he felt a slight discomfort in “you-know-where”. He ended by saying, “If you play LoL, then prep your hole.”
Yatoro, meanwhile, called it “the worst game in the world” even though he had a respectable 9/12/7 KDA for a first-timer.
Silent seemed to be more of a fan, praising its visuals and saying “it’s convenient to watch a TV series, eat, and play LoL at the same time”.
Turns out, League is a pretty complex game, and even seasoned MOBA players can’t immediately get good at it, although some Team Spirit players have the potential to switch games if they wanted.
