We have just witnessed the greatest upset so far at the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang M3 World Championship.
North America’s BTK will be advancing to the second round of the playoffs as they triumphed over fan favorites, MPL Philippines champions, Blacklist International, in a five-game thriller last Monday, December 11.
BTK’s impressive performance against Blacklist International at the M3 World Championship
BTK were the underdogs going into the matchup as Blacklist International had the firepower and experience playing competitively. However, the North American squad surprised many when they defeated the back-to-back MPL champions in the series.
BTK opened the series with stellar victory thanks to Michael “MobaZane” Cosgun’s off-meta Saber pick. In the next few games, Blacklist International decided to priority ban MobaZane’s comfort picks, which led to Blacklist International taking the next two games to get to a 2-1 lead and setting up match point in the best-of-five series.
However, in game four, MobaZane put in an insane Granger performance, finishing with a whopping 8/2/5 KDA to even up the series and force a game 5 decider.
The last game ended in 12 minutes, with a back-and-forth affair up until BTK wiped out the entire Blacklist International squad in the bottom lane to secure the thrilling 3-2 victory.

In the post-match interview, MobaZane could not contain his excitement after beating one of the best teams in the tournament.
“We’re really happy. No coach or analyst either and we were able to break the code, I guess,” he said.
He also revealed how BTK turned things around after losing in the second game.
“They really try to play around just OhMyV33nus, so we had to ban that Estes especially after the second game when they won in like 11 minutes,” MobaZane stated. “If you let them get tanky heroes, the Estes is pretty much unstoppable in the team,”
With the win, BTK will next face MPL SG Season 2 champions EVOS SG in the upper bracket on December 16, 6 p.m. GMT+8. watch it live on Mobile Legends: Bang Bang’s official Facebook page and YouTube channel.
